This and That on Start Up

Sometimes I just need to write things out to get perspective or to vent. Start Up is hitting that point in my brain where it's making me annoyed. Or I should say the online perspective is making me annoyed. I love the show as a whole and for the love I wish it didn't go the typical triangle route but here we are.
Grandma and Good Boy/JP is where the story should have been the focus. He's clearly not over his teenage years. Still feels indebted to Grandma but basically running out on her life for over 10 years while she and Dal Mi struggled. He wouldn't be involved now if Dal Mi hadn't of confronted her sister in the media event. I wish more focus would have been on his issues and he being the one to help her with her eyesight/tech.
I will say the first episode of the show set you up one way and then pulled the rug out. Even I was like "I need to see the second show to figure out where this is headed". And I did and I the story was clear but I can certainly see why people want JP/Dal Mi based on the first show. He wrote her the letters. It's romantic etc... Here's the thing about the letters...he and Grandma made them up. At least the original ones were lies. JP even said so himself. They intentionally wrote things to make Dal Mi feel good about herself. Maybe JP also started writing more personal things. We don't know that yet. JP couldn't even remember what he had wished in his letters until Do San told him. Then you have the flip side where Do San began to fall in love with Dal Mi through the letters. Now that he's met her, he fell in love even more. That's pretty romantic as well.
I am not really sure why JP likes Dal Mi or loves her even right now. He didn't have any contact with her for years and the only interaction they have right now (apart from the dinner scene) is work related. Is it because Do San is there? Is he mad that Do San is getting the girl based on work he did? JP was clearly abandoned and I think he feels like the world owes him. Owes him Dal Mi because he wrote the letters even though he didn't think about her for years. Hurting Do San (who has done nothing but do your biding and be nice to you) intentionally who has also done nothing to you except lie for you and fall in love with the girl is a crappy way to be a human.
Speaking of Do San...why is JP such a jerk to him? Do San was minding his own business and JP went to him for a favor. Asked him to lie. Do San did that. Do San wanted to tell the truth. JP asked him not to. Do San said okay. Do San is basically saving Grandma and JP at this point but you continue to be a jerk to Do San? Every chance you get you put him down and try to destroy his worth? Why is that? And yes Do San is lying to her as well. No doubt that's going to blow up in the most painful way possible according to the previews. Do San though has put forth the effort to spend time with Dal Mi, he wants Dal Mi to look at him for him. JP continued to show his real self with the scrunchie incident. His intention was to be intentionally hurtful to Do San and then when it didn't happen he was annoyed Do San didn't appear hurt (at least not in public). That is the kind of thing that I think JP needed to be with Grandma more. Working on his mean side issues.
Do I like Do San and Dal Mi- yes. I think they are the most equal and even though Do San is fumbling around due to lack of experience, Dal Mi is also new to the world of dating. She just has more social confidence. Do San is a like a blossoming bean. He's learning but still has a ways to go. He's the more root-able character for me.
I'm not new to the world of dramas, kdramas yes but dramas no. You look at who gets the most screen time together, who gets the more media promotion. Even if I didn't watch the show I could tell from PR perspective who the show is pushing. I love all the actors. I enjoy the show immensely but I hate the fan wars and the negativity. You don't have to engage with others to be hateful about fictional characters. One "team" will be disappointed for sure, maybe both "teams" will be but berating actors and the level of vitriol online for the ship wars is sad to me. Not new, but just sad. Enjoy what you like. Like what you like. There's only four more weeks of it and do you want to spend it enjoying your drama or fighting with people over fiction?
