This is one of those dramas that other than the synopsis I knew nothing about. I didn't know any of the actors and I went in blindly and it turned out to be a delightful journey.
The story itself isn't groundbreaking. Chaebol heir has to enter a contract dating relationship with the girl his grandfather has chosen or risk losing the company to his cousin. What sold me from the first 15 minutes was the lead female, Da Da, and her sass and refusal to bow down to the this chaebol heir. She spoke her mind and criticized him through the whole drama and it was refreshing because sometimes he deserved it. The lead male, Jae In, like most dramas starts off surly, but not to the extent I've seen in other dramas. He is a good person. He can be kind and generous. He has morals. Sure he has the typical messed up family but that didn't really plot much into his life choices.
Da Da and Jae In's fall into love was fun to watch. You knew they were in love long before the ILY's. There was minimal angst and aside from a stupid little kidnapping plot line that was resolved too quickly and should have never happened, most of the script was pretty tight.
I give huge props to the kissing in this. Very good kissing! No open eyes in sight. Excellent chemistry! I looked up the lead actor and I'm excited to see he has a new drama about to start soonish. I have no idea the type of character he will play but he can do charming for sure. I would like to see the lead actress again but it looks like she's been a bit away for a couple of years.
Some of things that could have been done better: take out the kidnapping plot line, the step-sister entering the picture so late was in the end to set up one misunderstanding and really wasn't needed and I wanted more of the female BF and the cousin.
I stormed through this drama mainly because was such an easy pleasant watch and it was helped greatly by the length of each episode only being 35-40 minutes on average.
My rating 3/5. "Enjoyable entertainment. Not ground breaking." If you just need a light romance to make you feel good about people falling in love- this is your drama.
